Please Come To Your Library

All 2008 books on United Methodist Women Reading Program fall into four categories that make up a holistic approach to missions and mission education.  The categories are:  Education for Mission, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, Spiritual Growth, also included are Large-print books and Children & Youth Books.  Women use the Reading Program as a guide for reading & studying that is part of their journey of understanding mission.

Our Purpose:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Joining this group of committed women is a unique opportunity - no matter who you are or where in your life you are at this moment - to move in harmony with other women who have been responding to this Purpose for over one hundred years.

To be a member of United Methodist Women you...

DO NOT HAVE TO (1.) be a member of Lamar United Methodist Church; (2.) be a regular attendee at Circle or Unit meetings.

DO HAVE TO (1.) express the desire to become a member (2.) have a desire to support missions through study which can be in conjunction with a Circle such as Esther or Martha-Ruth Circles or private or internet study of global ministries or through action such as participation in the Abigail Circle's sewing projects or Lydia Prayer Shawl Ministry knitting prayer shawls or being "on call" to any of these Circles for help when needed.

For more Membership information contact any UMW member or the church office.  Membership is painless and rewarding.
